Sacramento Kings Time is Now.

   It's been a long time!

So I had to get back to writing about sports. An what better way than to write a piece one my favorite team, in my favorite sport of all of sports, than the Sacramento Kings. It's true, I'm a die hard Kings fan. Born in Sac Town. Loved em before the team played it's first game. In a city where basketball is king, that was a big deal back then. So I've lived through the ups and downs with something more than "civic pride" for the Kings. I love the game of basketball. I love it's intricacy and complexity. I've played for what seem like ages now. I play as much as I can every week, and I'll play that way till I can play no more. So I try to look at the Kings through a filter. I take a very broad look (league pass is fantastic) at other organizations as the season and years go by. So with that in mind, my thoughts on why "now" is the time for the Sacramento Kings to make the jump to the next level.

I could start WAAAAAAAY back in the late 80's early 90's to remind you how bad the team was. But lets not. We could skip to the "happy days" of the late 90's early two thousands. But lets not beat a dead horse, even is it was happy. Lets face it, up until the end of the 2012/2013 season it was rough sailing. We saw the 05-06 playoffs end pretty bleakly and spent the next six years waiting for any kind of change. I remind you of all of this because people forget this is still a young organization! This is four year into, ostensibly, a new team people. Lets not forget the previous owners can into a pretty good situation team wise. We can't act like this is the same team or group. But this is year four now as well. There's a nice new stadium waiting for a team that has a chance to give fans a reason to fill it. There's a coach, in Joerger, who can help the team take the next step up. There's a big man, in DeMarcus, that has taken the next step in leadership over the last few years and solidified his place as one of the best in the game. This is the moment for Sacramento. Training wheels and safety straps are off and unbuckled the moment this team steps on the now court. There's plenty of time and talent to make sure that, when they do, this team comes out firing on the defensive end. This Kings team is in too good an opportunity to pass up! They have the chance to show everyone who they really are, as a new team, with a new coach, in a new stadium. It doesn't get much better than that! If I was telling them in the locker room, I'd put it this way; Go five hundred this season and you fill the stands with the loudest fans in the world. Get to the playoffs and you'll be kings in the city, in a way that's more than basketball.
